Manimal Wrist Wraps: What, Why, and How?
When you’ve upped your game and gotten serious about lifting and weight training, you’ll hit plateaus and need to find ways to move beyond them. Lifting wrist straps are an essential part of that mission.Â
You’ll find cheap, poorly made options everywhere, but why settle for less when you can have the best? Manimal USPA-approved weight training wrist wraps took over 10 years to perfect. They’re great for strength athletes who:
- Never want wrist injuries to get in the way of training.
- Can’t stand the thought of losing gains or wasting time.
- Know the difference between max effort and casual days.Â
They’re designed to be versatile, because your wrists matter wherever you go and however you train. Manimal’s wrist wraps are great for lifting, weight training, strongman, CrossFit, and bodybuilding — but also for shooting, manual work, and sports. If top performance and longevity is your personal mission, they’re for you. We’re here for the long haul. Strength is earned.
Purposely overbuilt with excess materials, our wrist wraps for lifting support your pursuit of lifelong strength.. Quite literally. As you subject your Manimal weight training wrist wraps to the same strain your body’s under, seams will burst, threads will loosen, and elastic will wear out. It doesn’t matter. Your Manimal wrist wraps will keep going strong — for at least three years or longer if you treat them right.Â
That’s why Manimal lifting wraps have a lifetime warranty. That’s why they’re the best wrist wraps for weightlifting. Period.
Why Use Weightlifting Wrist Wraps?
So, you’re wondering how to stop wrist pain at the gym (for good)? Our wrist wraps for lifting will help with that, and that’s got a lot to do with the unnecessary strain your wrists are under during grueling workouts.Â
When you lift heavy weights, your wrists routinely have to support stress and strain they weren’t designed for. Overuse injuries are extremely common among weightlifters, especially in powerlifting and CrossFit. Heavy-duty wrist wraps give you the support you need to kiss wrist pain goodbye once and for all.Â
Use Manimal lifting wrist wraps to:
- Give your wrist joints stabilization for better positioning and extra support when you do heavy lifting exercises.
- Help prevent common wrist injuries like strains, sprains, and tendonitis.Â
- Slash your risk of wrist pain and the inflammation that forces you to pause your training and lose your progress as you recover.Â
-  Know you’re getting the most out of every workout with a product that lasts, as long as you do.
- Lift heavier weights and grow stronger, faster.
- Our wrist wraps for bench aren’t magic. They won’t stop all injuries on their own. That part is up to you — because you’re in control of your form. Manimal heavy-duty weightlifting wrist wraps will, however, give you extra stability and support while you push the meaning of max performance forward with each training session and competition. This can make all the difference.
Our weight training wrist wraps usually work best in conjunction with Manimal lifting straps for deadlifts, rows, and snatches and lifting belts for core stimulation and lower back support.
How to Put on Wrist Wraps for Lifting
Knowing how to put on wrist wraps (the proper way) is key — because even the best wrist wraps for powerlifting won’t help you much if you don’t wear them right. Let’s make sure you do, because too many athletes don’t. Â
You’ve got two main ways to put on your wrist wraps for lifting. The one you usually see in YouTube videos is what we call the powerlifting method. You wrap your lifting wraps around the bottom of your palms so that your wrists are completely immobilized.Â
That’s a great method if you’re using your wrist wraps for bench or very short reps where you don’t need mobility, like to hit a new best in the bench press and you want to move beyond the average bench press for men: by weight and age.
Most of us actually need to be able to move our wrists during lifts. Here’s how you make sure you can, while you still get the support you need from your wrist wraps for lifting:
- Extend your fingers, place the thumb loop around your thumbs, and wrap your wrist wraps around the ulna and radius bones of your wrists without covering the palms of your hands. Make sure to flex your arm while you do this.
- Wrap your sturdy Manimal wrist wraps around your wrist joint, while keeping a fist and your wrist flexed back. Once or twice, until the wrap is snug without cutting off your circulation. It’s not meant to be a boa constrictor. You should be able to move your wrists. If your hands go pale, you’ve wrapped your lifting wrists wraps around too tight. Take them off and go again.Â
- Try this until the wrap is comfortable. The industrial-strength Japanese Velcro in our weight training wrist wraps will do the rest and keep them in place.Â
- Take the thumb loop off your thumb. It’s there to help you wrap, not to help you train.
- Go forth and conquer your workout, like you should.Â
Need visuals? We get it. Written instructions on using wrist wraps really don’t do a great job of showing the right angles. A word of warning, though. Unless you’re looking for info on wrapping wrist wraps for bench or maximum output exercises, make sure the videos don’t only show how to put on wrist wraps using the powerlifting method. Your performance will thank you later.
How to Care for Your Manimal Weight Training Wrist Wraps
So yeah, our USPA-approved lifting wrist wraps come with a lifetime warranty and they last forever. The warranty covers material and manufacturing defects (we’re confident there won’t be any). It doesn’t cover the normal wear and tear you’ll subject your wrist wraps to if you train hard and often. They’re supposed to take the brunt of your training, so naturally they’ll wear down…just a lot less than other wraps because we built them to last.Â
Even though Manimal wrist wraps for lifting are engineered to last (and most guys get at least three years of use out of them), you need to treat them the way they treat you — with respect.Â
Caring for your Manimal wrist wraps 101 includes:
- Don’t leave them out of your sight at the gym. Your wrist wraps WILL get stolen. Really. We hear about wrist wrap theft so often it deserves its own special mention.Â
- Wash your weight training wrist wraps. They’ll get nasty. But for fuck’s sake, don’t put your wrist wraps in the washing machine.
- Wash them by hand, with a gentle detergent designed for hand washing, in cold water, and leave them to air dry. Out of the sun. You don’t want to damage that Velcro. Be gentle. Fast is smooth and smooth is fast applies to washing your wrist wraps for lifting, too.
- Store your Manimal wrist wraps in a cool and dry place when you’re not using them. Perhaps get a little bag to keep them in in your gym bag, so they don’t go AWOL.Â
Yes, air drying takes some time. You might want to get yourself an extra pair of weight training wrist wraps so you can stay fresh and strong. No one likes a trail of stink following them at the gym. (insert winky face here).Â
